Midwestern Snow Storm Naming Scheme--Official Winter 2011 List

Let me just preface this post with the fact that I'm crazy, but as someone recently told me.."as long as you own it, you're fine." So this is me owning my crazy.

I dread shoveling snow. I don't enjoy walking through it to get to work. I avoid driving in it. This December we got 30+ inches. And then we spent the month of January with only 3 days above freezing. And boy has it been gloomy and dreary. I'm a bit fed up with it, so yesterday I posed the following on my facebook status: What # snowpacalypse are we on now this winter? Maybe we should start naming them like hurricanes so we can keep track better. *rolls eyes* I couldn't help but think that it couldn't hurt my attitude toward the weather to name the storm headed our way. You know the one threatening to dump more than a foot of snow. Besides didn't someone say the best way to defeat one's enemy is to know them? How can we know them until we name them?

April weekends

I just solidified plans for this weekend today when it hit me: my April weekends are all over the place, and well so very me. Keeping with my new reality of being around Dubuque much more often than I have in the past, I'll be here for 3 of the 4 weekends. Ok, and by here I mean mostly here. I'll explain below. --Weekly Wrap Up--

Media/fashion round up of my week TV: One issue with being a fan of a British TV show? Having to avoid spoilers until you can find a copy of it online to watch. Thankfully a twitter acquaintance posted a link to Matt Smith's debut episode of Doctor Who. I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy the show without the darling David Tennant, but it was ok. I still enjoyed it. He's no David Tennant, but I'll definitely still watch. I love the cheeky humor. I also watched the first 8 episodes of season 2 of Veronica Mars while cleaning. Is there a better way to clean? Books: I finally got around to reading "If I Stay" by Gayle Forman. It's amazing. I got quite sucked in to the book. It had me sobbing by the end. I really appreciate books that can tell a story so well that I'm emotionally tied to the characters. If you haven't read it or are not a YA reader, you should pick it up. It's about a 17-year old girl who has a major decision to make about life. I...

Tough day

I don't know what was different about today, but I really struggled. A headache sidelined me for part of the day. Then I got hit with an overwhelming wave of sadness. And there were tears today. Definitely a crying jag. At some point today I moved past the point of being able to be angry. I just feel sick to my stomach again. Something I haven't dealt with since being on anxiety meds. I'm ok. I think everything just caught up to me today. Hoping sleep grants me some stress-free down time for my brain at least. My heart and stomach are going to need a bit more time I think.
