Quotables...my new favorite addiction

I love quotes. Movie quotes, book quotes, funny quotes, inspirational quotes. Doesn't matter. My friend and I used to publish a weekly newsletter in college that we spiced up with famous quotes. Most weeks we spent more time digging through her quotations dictionary looking for the perfect quote to complement our writing than we did on the writing itself. Then there were those weeks where we found the perfect quote first, and then wrote stuff to fit it.

I can only begin to imagine how much fun we could have had if Quotables had been around back then! My BEDA buddy Nicola introduced me. And boy was it love at first site (pun, as always, intended)! It's a fun, super easy to use quote database. Now I'm sure you're wondering why I couldn't just Google them. Well, I could. But it wouldn't be nearly as fun. And I can submit my own favorite quotes and love ones I find, and collect them and share them. It's like a social network for quotes!! How can it be bad? (Aside from it's addictive qualities that distract me from doing work? Right. Other than that?)

So here's my challenge to you. Go check out Quotables, find one of the quotes I submitted (beckiejean), create an account and submit your own. Get the URL and then post in the comments here! How else am I going to find amazing quotes to get me through the day?

I'll share some of my favorite non-Becky submitted quotes I've found so far:

Side note: If you haven't seen The IT Crowd, go find it on Netflix or YouTube or somewhere! So freaking funny!!

Side note: Oh Marty...why didn't you make a move sooner? :(

Now, if only I could get Quotables to organize and capture all the funny crap my friends say all day! Next project??

April weekends

I just solidified plans for this weekend today when it hit me: my April weekends are all over the place, and well so very me. Keeping with my new reality of being around Dubuque much more often than I have in the past, I'll be here for 3 of the 4 weekends. Ok, and by here I mean mostly here. I'll explain below. April 6-7 Julien Dubuque International Film Festival --I went to the festival last year with Gretchen. We had so much fun! We ended up seeing a different set of films than we originally thought, but it was still a blast. I was lucky enough to attend the Beloit International Film Festival with Kyle and his family last month, and this year he's coming down to spend the weekend watching films with me. Plus Nicole will be around for the weekend so she's coming along too! April 13-14 Twins game with Amy--We've got tickets to the Twins-Mets game on Sunday so I'll be driving back up to The Cities (I was just there over St. Patrick's Day weekend). I have...

About me

I feel like it's only fair I do a little bit of an intro for my new BEDA buddies: Christina , Autumn , and Nicola . For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, a bunch (read over 200) of us participating in Blog Every Day in April signed up to have Maureen Johnson (the Churchill of BEDA as Alex Day called her) to match us up with BEDA buddies for moral support for the rest of the month. What we do with these buddies is up to us. I'm not quite sure yet what we'll do, if anything other than comment on each other's blogs. But I feel like I do the least on my blog to give an idea of who I am. So this post is hoping to rectify that. So here goes! I'm a midwestern born and bred. At 24, I've never lived more than 200 miles (a 3 hour drive) from the city I was born in. However, my parents threw us in the van and took us on driving vacations all over the country, where I fell in love with history and roadtrips. These two loves served me well in colleg...

Booklist

I found this in my RSS feed this morning and thought it was a nice way to start the day. It is a list created by the National Endowment for the Arts, and a blogger writes that they claim most American adults have read only six of these hundred books. I've read 23, but about half have been for school; however, some of those I chose to read for a class assignment. :) Here’s what you do: 1) Look at the list and bold those you have read. 2) Italicize those you intend to read. 3) Underline the books you LOVE. (Or in my case turn them green.) 4) Reprint this list on your own blog. 1 Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen 2 The Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien 3 Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte 4 Harry Potter series - JK Rowling 5 To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee 6 The Bible (um, how many people have actually sat down to read the Bible? Like, straight through? I'm counting it because I read at least a chapter every night.) 7 Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte (I own it, but haven't read ...
