Music for my roadtrip

So the last of my 10 mix cds is currently being burned. I ended up with quite the eclectic mix of stuff.

  • the "friend" mix -- the one I listed originally
  • a Broadway mix -- my favorite track from each of my 20 fave musicals
  • a "vocal" mix -- 18 tracks from choirs or recitals
  • Nerdfighter/DFTBA mix -- 21 of my faves listed under the nerdfighter genre in iTunes
  • Blue Skies mix -- 23 tracks including my fave originals and covers, and his new covers
  • Mom and Dad mix -- 18 songs from Boston, Billy Joel, Queen and the Beatles
  • Next to Normal mix -- most of the songs from the show I'll see Saturday
  • Actual Friend Mix (#1-3) -- 55 songs from the list my friends suggested
The Actual Friend Mix was fun to put together. I didn't end up buying all the songs you suggested that I didn't own. I started with the ones I did own and the ones that Manda and Emily (the two poor souls on Gchat at the time) could easily email me. Then I bought a few tracks here and there to make sure everyone was represented with at least 3 songs. Then I let iTunes shuffle them up and deal them out. I ended up with the following tracklist.

They're all tucked away in my Blue Skies box (from the last album). I'm off to bed now, but I can't wait to start rocking out to these tunes tomorrow!!! Yay!!!

April weekends

I just solidified plans for this weekend today when it hit me: my April weekends are all over the place, and well so very me. Keeping with my new reality of being around Dubuque much more often than I have in the past, I'll be here for 3 of the 4 weekends. Ok, and by here I mean mostly here. I'll explain below. April 6-7 Julien Dubuque International Film Festival --I went to the festival last year with Gretchen. We had so much fun! We ended up seeing a different set of films than we originally thought, but it was still a blast. I was lucky enough to attend the Beloit International Film Festival with Kyle and his family last month, and this year he's coming down to spend the weekend watching films with me. Plus Nicole will be around for the weekend so she's coming along too! April 13-14 Twins game with Amy--We've got tickets to the Twins-Mets game on Sunday so I'll be driving back up to The Cities (I was just there over St. Patrick's Day weekend). I have...

About me

I feel like it's only fair I do a little bit of an intro for my new BEDA buddies: Christina , Autumn , and Nicola . For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, a bunch (read over 200) of us participating in Blog Every Day in April signed up to have Maureen Johnson (the Churchill of BEDA as Alex Day called her) to match us up with BEDA buddies for moral support for the rest of the month. What we do with these buddies is up to us. I'm not quite sure yet what we'll do, if anything other than comment on each other's blogs. But I feel like I do the least on my blog to give an idea of who I am. So this post is hoping to rectify that. So here goes! I'm a midwestern born and bred. At 24, I've never lived more than 200 miles (a 3 hour drive) from the city I was born in. However, my parents threw us in the van and took us on driving vacations all over the country, where I fell in love with history and roadtrips. These two loves served me well in colleg...

Booklist

I found this in my RSS feed this morning and thought it was a nice way to start the day. It is a list created by the National Endowment for the Arts, and a blogger writes that they claim most American adults have read only six of these hundred books. I've read 23, but about half have been for school; however, some of those I chose to read for a class assignment. :) Here’s what you do: 1) Look at the list and bold those you have read. 2) Italicize those you intend to read. 3) Underline the books you LOVE. (Or in my case turn them green.) 4) Reprint this list on your own blog. 1 Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen 2 The Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien 3 Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte 4 Harry Potter series - JK Rowling 5 To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee 6 The Bible (um, how many people have actually sat down to read the Bible? Like, straight through? I'm counting it because I read at least a chapter every night.) 7 Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte (I own it, but haven't read ...
