Busy week

I've got a bunch going on this week. I really need to get Christmas cards written and sent out. I send out too many, and they've been getting progressively later each year. I swear they will be out by the end of the week! Which reminds me, if I don't have your address, you should fill it out here. Even if you haven't moved recently, I seem to have lost some addresses in the new computer shuffle in March.

I've also got to clean the apartment. Gretchen is coming this weekend to visit. She's going to be my date to the Gala. Someone's got to keep me company. Events are always fun with her, and besides one my coworkers is threatening to bring a deck of cards for entertainment. Hopefully we can both finish Christmas shopping too. (I'm also behind on that.)

I need to decorate the apartment for the holidays. My penguins and Christmas tree are up in my office, but my other two trees haven't been pulled out of the spare bedroom yet. Oops.

Plus I've got meetings and luncheons at work this week. Not to mention all the reference questions. Ok, most of those are how do I print, or I think I saved this document in a weird place and now I can't find it, but those still take a lot of time and effort.

Oh, and I've got to finish editing my Project 4 Awesome video before Thursday. If you don't know what the P4A is, you should check out www.nerdfighters.com or look for the P4A logo on the most subscribed page on YouTube on Thursday. I'll post more here this week about that once I get it done. For now I'm off to bed!!

April weekends

I just solidified plans for this weekend today when it hit me: my April weekends are all over the place, and well so very me. Keeping with my new reality of being around Dubuque much more often than I have in the past, I'll be here for 3 of the 4 weekends. Ok, and by here I mean mostly here. I'll explain below. April 6-7 Julien Dubuque International Film Festival --I went to the festival last year with Gretchen. We had so much fun! We ended up seeing a different set of films than we originally thought, but it was still a blast. I was lucky enough to attend the Beloit International Film Festival with Kyle and his family last month, and this year he's coming down to spend the weekend watching films with me. Plus Nicole will be around for the weekend so she's coming along too! April 13-14 Twins game with Amy--We've got tickets to the Twins-Mets game on Sunday so I'll be driving back up to The Cities (I was just there over St. Patrick's Day weekend). I have...

About me

I feel like it's only fair I do a little bit of an intro for my new BEDA buddies: Christina , Autumn , and Nicola . For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, a bunch (read over 200) of us participating in Blog Every Day in April signed up to have Maureen Johnson (the Churchill of BEDA as Alex Day called her) to match us up with BEDA buddies for moral support for the rest of the month. What we do with these buddies is up to us. I'm not quite sure yet what we'll do, if anything other than comment on each other's blogs. But I feel like I do the least on my blog to give an idea of who I am. So this post is hoping to rectify that. So here goes! I'm a midwestern born and bred. At 24, I've never lived more than 200 miles (a 3 hour drive) from the city I was born in. However, my parents threw us in the van and took us on driving vacations all over the country, where I fell in love with history and roadtrips. These two loves served me well in colleg...

Booklist

I found this in my RSS feed this morning and thought it was a nice way to start the day. It is a list created by the National Endowment for the Arts, and a blogger writes that they claim most American adults have read only six of these hundred books. I've read 23, but about half have been for school; however, some of those I chose to read for a class assignment. :) Here’s what you do: 1) Look at the list and bold those you have read. 2) Italicize those you intend to read. 3) Underline the books you LOVE. (Or in my case turn them green.) 4) Reprint this list on your own blog. 1 Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen 2 The Lord of the Rings - JRR Tolkien 3 Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte 4 Harry Potter series - JK Rowling 5 To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee 6 The Bible (um, how many people have actually sat down to read the Bible? Like, straight through? I'm counting it because I read at least a chapter every night.) 7 Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte (I own it, but haven't read ...
