As some of you may know, I've been working on a short story/short fiction piece on and off for a while now. I'm not doing anything serious with it. It's just something to do, a story I want to tell, but nothing I'm compelling to pour a lot of concerted effort into. Not yet, anyway.
However, I have found a writing buddy on campus. Granted we spend more time chatting than writing during our sessions, but having the story present in the front of my mind has been helpful in me mentally developing it.
Anyway, so I've been working on that, but not sharing it. This writing buddy of mine sent out an all call request for submissions for the local writer's guild anthology. For the first time, I'm seriously contemplating submitting pieces. Ironically, all of the pieces I'm looking at are poems, not short fiction. I've posted all of them on this blog at some point or another before. But I'm still a little nervous about submitting them. Publishing them here is different. I know the audience to some extent. And I know you're all supportive. Real publishing, even in a small, local thing is different. It's really public. Not just quasi-public blogging.
I've told myself this year, I'm submitting something. I'm not sure how many pieces. I think for sure I'll submit Editing for Length: a poem. I can't decide if I'm ready to share broken or my untitled piece. Thoughts? Ideas? If I could only submit one, which is your favorite?

You have quite the talent for writing, dear sis! I love Editing for Length - it's fun & quirky, but "broken" is just beautiful. (I mean, I understand you're not describing a beautiful emotion...but the words and their imagery is powerful). I say if you could only submit one, that's the one! So proud of you!!
